一、培养目标:
本专业培养具有扎实的英语语言基础和广博的文化知识并能熟练地运用英语在外事、教育、经贸、文化、科技、军事等部门从事翻译、教学、管理、研究等工作的复合型外语人才。

7、具有第二外国语的一定的实际应用能力；
8、熟练掌握计算机的基础操作、英语汉语文字、表格处理的方法。
二、修业年限和授予学位及毕业基本要求：
四年，文学学士学位，毕业最低学分要求170.5学分。

1. Education objectives
This major aims to help students consolidate their English language foundation, broaden their cultural knowledge, so as to foster interdisciplinary talents in such fields as foreign affairs, education, business and trade, culture, science and technology, military affairs.
Students in this major mainly study fundamental theories and essential knowledge in English language, literature, history, politics, economics, diplomacy, social culture, etc. They receive adequate skill training by attending English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating programs. Beside the proper methodology in doing scientific research, they develop all-around competence necessary for such professions as translation, research, teaching, administration.
Graduates are supposed to be equipped with knowledge and abilities, such as:
1) being familiar with national principles, policies and regulations,
2) possessing solid foundation in English Linguistics and language proficiency in English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating.
3) holding a good command of essential knowledge in English linguistics, literature and relevant knowledge in humanities and business.
4) having broad knowledge on status quo of China and society and culture of English-speaking countries.
5) mastering methods of bibliography retrieving and reference consulting, possessing preliminary research ability and practical executive ability.
6) having good communicative skills and language proficiency in Chinese.
7) having a command of a second foreign language.
