Recently, the 4th Shandong Provincial Ideological and Political Theory Course Teaching Competition was held at the central campus of Shandong University. Wang Mei and Wang Minghui from QUT's School of Marxism won Special Prizes in the Basic Principles of Marxism group and the Ideology, Morality and Rule of Law group, respectively. They also qualified for recommendation to the 2027 national competition. QUT won the largest number of Special Prizes among provincial universities.
Hosted by the Department of Education of Shandong Province, the competition covered multiple course groups, including Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Basic Principles of Marxism, and involved schools at different levels. Since its launch in April, 294 ideological and political theory course teachers advanced to the provincial final after preliminary selections.
The achievement reflects QUT's sustained efforts in ideological and political theory course development and teacher capacity building. In recent years, the university has firmly upheld the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, improved support mechanisms for ideological and political theory teachers, and regularly organized teaching workshops, collective lesson preparation, teaching competitions and teaching research exchanges. These efforts have promoted teaching, learning, reform and development through competitions, and strengthened the effectiveness of ideological and political education across the university.
Moving forward, QUT will take this breakthrough as an opportunity to further implement the requirements for ideological and political theory courses in the new era and the university's plan for building a comprehensive ideological and political education system. With a focus on improving teaching competence and strengthening demonstration-based guidance, the university will continue to improve its teacher development system, build more high-quality ideological and political theory courses, and promote the quality and effectiveness of ideological and political education.
