Recently, the national finals of the 13th New Generation Information and Communication Technology Competition (ICCT) were held at Wuhan University of Science and Technology. Five teams from the School of Information Management, having secured first-place provincial awards in the Undergraduate Group B track, competed fiercely in the national finals. They ultimately won one National First Prize and one National Third Prize, fully demonstrating QUT students' solid foundation and innovative strength in the field of information and communication technology.

Since the launch of the competition, the School of Information Management has attached great importance to it and developed a detailed preparation plan, receiving strong support from the College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Relying on a team of specialized faculty advisors, the school has implemented a system of competition leaders. Focusing on key areas of the competition—including 5G-A engineering practice, 6G integrated sensing and communication, low-altitude intelligent networking, satellite internet, and AI-plus information and communication networks—the school has organized multiple rounds of specialized training sessions and realistic simulation exercises. At the same time, industry experts and past award-winning contestants have been invited to share their experiences. The school has also provided participating teams with dedicated training facilities, experimental equipment, and financial support, ensuring that the entire preparation process is efficient and well-organized.

Attracting nearly 800 universities and 60,000 participants nationwide, the competition serves as a practical extension of QUT’s Telecommunications and Electronic Information Engineering curricula, acting as a "second classroom" for Mobile Communication Technology. At the provincial level, QUT achieved outstanding results with five first-place awards, 12 second-place awards, and 20 third-place awards, laying a solid foundation for the national finals. Through this competition, students have not only deepened their understanding of specialized knowledge but also gained a firsthand sense of the development trends in China’s strategic emerging industries—including 6G, artificial intelligence, satellite internet, and the low-altitude economy. This experience has further strengthened their determination to dedicate themselves to the nation’s information and communication endeavors.

Moving forward, the School of Information Management will follow the QUT's strategic deployment to continuously optimize its faculty advisory team structure and intensify efforts to promote these competitions. The school will also refine the long-term mechanism of "promoting teaching and learning through competitions," striving to achieve even greater success in next year's events.
