Recently, under the guidance of theBureauof Territorial Spatial Planning of Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, the winners of the“Future Planner-the Second National University Student Territorial Spatial Planning Skills Competition”were announced. With the theme of "Urban Renewal and Connotation Enhancement", the competition selected "Anshan Road-Tianjin Quanyechang Bazaar" and "Tianjin Steel Group-Machine Tool Works", two areas in Tianjin with profound historical background, early development and construction, and in urgent need of renewal and transformation, as the design areas. Over 110 teams from 55 universities across the country took part in the competition.
A total of 2 first prizes, 7 second prizes, 8 third prizes and 13 excellent prizes were selected in this competition.QUT studentsfrom the School of Architectureacquiredexcellent prizewiththeirwork"A Record of Construction -- Urban Renewal Design of Anshan Road Historic Block from the perspective of Community Construction"under the supervision of Professor Han Qing and Associate Professor Shi Feng. The team members were undergraduate students majoring in Urban and Rural Planning and Architecture: Dong Wenting, Weiwei, Ming Xiaohui, Liu Zhe, Qin Zhiqiong.
