On May 24th, Prof. P.A. Muhammed Basheer, a member of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Executive Dean of the School of Energy, Geology, Infrastructure and Society at Heriot-Watt University, Prof. Neil A. Dunse, Director ofInternationalisation of the School of Energy, Geology, Infrastructure and Society, and staff from the China & East Asia Office of Heriot-Watt University visited QUT. President Prof. ZHANG Kai and Vice President Prof. JIN Zuquan met with guests, and some directors of relevant offices from QUT attended the meeting. Prof. ZHOU Hongyan, Director of Office of International Affairs and Dean of College of International Education, presided at the meeting.
Prof. JIN Zuquan warmly welcomed Prof. Muhammed Basheer and the delegation from Heriot-Watt University. He hoped that the two universities can take the existing scientific research cooperation as an opportunity to further expand substantive cooperation in teaching, scientific research, talent cultivation, and other areas. Subsequently, Prof. ZHOU Hongyan introduced QUT and its overseas exchange and cooperation.
Prof. Muhammed Basheer expressed gratitude for the warm reception from QUT. He stated that several disciplines of Heriot-Watt University match well with those of QUT, and hoped that the two universities will cooperate in student joint cultivation in the future. Subsequently, Prof. Neil Dunse provided a detailed introduction of the history, schools, talent cultivation, and cooperation programs of Heriot-Watt University.
At the meeting, members from QUT and Heriot-Watt University exchanged ideas on joint programs for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in civil engineering and management engineering, and discussed the feasibility of various program modes in detail.
After the meeting, Prof. ZHANG Kai, President of QUT, met the delegation, and expressed that the two universities have similar disciplinary backgrounds and advantages in the field of engineering. He hoped that the two universities will maintain close contact in academic, have active exchanges between the faculty, and deepen substantive cooperation.
